BIDDEFORD (AP) — A hotel developer is considering a $50 million plan to build a hotel and apartment complex at a former textile mill in Biddeford.

Tim Harrington of Atlantic Holdings is expected to appear before the city’s planning board of Wednesday to discuss the plan to renovate the more than 160-year-old Lincoln Mill.

The proposal includes an 80-room hotel with two restaurants, and more than 100 market-rate apartments.

Harrington, a Kennebunkport resident, says he hopes to finalize the purchase of Lincoln Mill next month and estimates the project would create a minimum of 200 jobs.

Biddeford’s economic director, Daniel Stevenson, says the development could be exactly what the city needs to bolster its downtown area and attract more visitors.
