CAMDEN — A lawsuit was filed Friday against a Camden retirement home on behalf of a 93-year-old woman who claims she was evicted from her apartment while she was in the hospital.
According to the lawsuit, filed in Knox County Superior Court, Camden Hills Villa Inc. agreed in March to pay $5,000 as compensation for its actions against Gabriele Simonson in return for dismissal of her complaint. But no payments have been made, according to the lawsuit filed Friday by attorney Christopher MacLean on behalf of Simonson.
Simonson was a resident of Camden Hills Villa when she was hospitalized at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport in February 2013. While she was in the hospital, she and hospital staff were notified by Goudreau that she would not be allowed to return to her apartment.
MacLean said Friday no reason was given for that decision. In addition, Camden Hills did not return the woman’s $2,000 security deposit nor $100 put into the woman’s account at the retirement inn for her benefit.
The lawsuit claims Camden Hills also breached the agreement reached earlier this year and is seeking the $5,000 plus interest, and court and attorney fees.
A telephone message left Friday morning for Goudreau was not immediately returned.
