MANCHESTER — An Augusta man was injured Wednesday afternoon when his car crossed the center line and struck a box truck head-on on Route 202, according to police.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said in a press release that Christopher Corliss, 37, had to be freed from the car and was taken to Central Maine Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are looking at alcohol use as a possible factor in the crash, he said. It happened at 2:30 p.m. in front of the Augusta Country Club and closed the road to traffic for 90 minutes.

The box truck driver, Chris Polley, 39, of Guilford, was uninjured.
