FARMINGTON — Come and light a candle in memory of a loved one.

Fairbanks Union Church is hosting a special “Community Service of Compassion and Hope in the Christmas Season,” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18.

The Christmas season is a joyful time for many people, but for those who have lost a loved one, or who are struggling with the emotions that the Christmas season can evoke, this can be a difficult time of the year. This service will provide music, song and prayer in support of those experiencing loss.

A candle-lighting ceremony and special music will be part of the service. And even for those who haven’t recently lost a loved one, this service will be a beautiful occasion to remember friends or family whose presence we miss.

The ceremony will be led by The Rev. Douglas Allan Dunlap, chaplain at Franklin Memorial Hospital, The Rev. Alexis Fuller-Wright, pastor, Old South Church UCC, and The Rev. Susan Crane, pastor, Henderson Memorial Baptist Church.

The church is located 3 miles north of downtown Farmington, on Route 4, and is handicap accessible. All are welcome to attend.
