AUBURN — Faith Grady put in a season-best performance Thursday, lighting the boards for 44 points as St. Dom’s cruised to a 54-41 upset win over Madison. 

The Saints (1-2) led by 11 in the third frame before Madison (2-1) rallied back to tie the contest before the quarter concluded. Grady nailed 18 buckets along with eight shots from the line as part of her stellar effort. 

Madison was paced by Madeline Wood and Aly Leblanc with 11 points each.

The Saints outscored Madison 13-3 in the final frame to secure the win.

Boothbay 67, Mt. Abram 16

SALEM — After jumping out to a nine-point advantage in the first quarter, Boothbay went on a 21-6 run in the second and raced away to post a 67-16 win over Mt. Abram in MVC girls’ basketball action Thursday.

Sara Durgin and Morgan Crocker led the Seahawks (1-0) with 15 points each, while Mackenzie Abbott chipped in with 12. 

The Roadrunners (0-1) were paced by Brooklyn Millbury with a solid seven-point effort. 

Spruce Mountain 64, MCI 40

JAY — Spruce Mountain used a 22-8 run in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 64-40 victory over MCI in MVC girls’ basketball action Thursday. 

Veteran Emily Keene led the Phoenix with 20 points, while Samantha Richards tallied 12 and Alex Bessey added 11. 

Oak Hill 63, Hall-Dale 32

WALES — Meagan Crosby led a group of 11 players to light the boards Thursday as Oak Hill hustled to a 63-32 win over Hall-Dale in MVC girls’ basketball action. 

Crosby led the Raiders (2-0) with nine points, while Brianna Mulherin chipped in with eight. 

The Bulldogs (1-1) were led by Dani Sweet with nine points, while Molly French added six. 

Monmouth 42, Carrabec 38

MONMOUTH — After trailing by seven in the first quarter, Monmouth used an 18-10 third-quarter run to take control and went on to notch a 42-38 win over MVC rival Carrabec Thursday. 

Sidney Wilson led the Mustangs (2-0) with 15 points, while Haley West chipped in with 12.

The Cobras (0-2) were paced by Mickayla Willette and Emma Pluntke with 11 points apiece, while Kate Stevens added 10. 

Girls’ hockey

Lewiston 6, Mt. Ararat 1

TOPSHAM — Lewiston jumped out to a 5-0 advantage in the first period before coasting to a 6-1 victory over Mt. Ararat in an early-season girls’ hockey tilt Thursday. 

Lauren Deblois led the Blue Devils with two goals and an assist, while Mikaela Brown, Allison Frechette, Chloe Morin and Corinne Laberge also tallied. Mikaela Cloutier netted the lone goal for Mt. Ararat in the second frame. 

Meagan Gosselin made nine saves for Lewiston, while Alison Nolan and Marilyn Daniel combined to deflect 24 shots for the Eagles.
