BUCKFIELD — The Western Foothills Land Trust will lead Celebrate Sunshine on Snowshoes, a 2.5-mile, gentle-terrain snowshoe walk at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, on the Packard Trail in Buckfield.

Snowshoers will meet at the Packard Trailhead, 1.2 miles south of Route 121 on the Sodom Road. Those who wish to participate in the walk should bring snowshoes or snow spikes because conditions will be crunchy.

The Packard Trail meanders through a mixed northern forest habitat, passes three small waterfalls and provides scenic views of South Pond. The walk will include a newly opened Cascade Trail loop that has recently been completed by volunteer trail builder, Carl Costanzi.

If a participant needs snowshoes for the walk, leave a message with Lee Dassler at 207-739-2124 before noon on Sunday.
