SOUTH PORTLAND — Girl Scouts of Maine named Gena Canning, managing partner at Pine State Trading Co., the 2015 Women of Distinction Award at the 18th annual Women of Distinction Gala on Dec. 4.

This annual event is Girl Scouts of Maine’s largest fundraiser and celebrates women whose individual excellence and high levels of achievement distinguish them as outstanding members of their communities and exemplary role models for today’s girls.

This year’s event at Marriott Sable Oaks raised over $125,000 for Girl Scouting in Maine.

“We are so thrilled with the outstanding support for our honoree, Gina Canning, and for the Women of Distinction Gala,” said Joanne Crepeau, CEO, Girl Scouts of Maine.

“We are especially grateful for the financial support this event brings to the girls in Maine. These proceeds benefit girls who want a camp experience but have financial needs, underwrites girls seeking to learn new things about themselves and the world, and helps us reach more girls who want the Girl Scouts experience wherever they live in Maine.”
