AUGUSTA (AP) — Maine officials said that revenues are up $31.7 million over estimates so far this fiscal year.
Richard Rosen, acting commissioner of the Department of Administrative and Financial Services, told the Maine Public Broadcasting Network that lawmakers shouldn’t “move themselves into a moment of exuberance” with news of extra funds as the budget year isn’t even halfway over yet.
Tax receipts in November came in $4.1 million above projections. Rosen said that sales tax revenues also beat projections for the first time in a while.
Rosen said lower-than-expected energy prices are in part driving the increase in revenues and warned that energy prices could change.
