BOOTHBAY — John Hepburn led a group of four players in double figures as Boothbay overpowered Mountain Valley, 77-38, in MVC boys’ basketball action Monday.

Hepburn led the undefeated Seahawks (6-0) with 24 points, highlighted by his 1,000th career tally in the third quarter. Jacob Leonard chipped in with 12 points, while Nick Burge and Abel Bryer each added 10.

MONMOUTH — After trailing by nine points at the half, Monmouth used a strong 16-4 run in the third frame to score a 37-31 victory over St. Dom’s Monday.

Kasey Smith and Luke Thombs led the Mustangs (4-3) with eight points apiece, while Nick Sanborn and Tyler Gosselin each added six.

The Saints (1-6) were paced by Becket Wagner with a game-high 14 points, while Michael Bryant chipped in with 12.

RANGELEY — Jared Eastman scored 23 points and Jake Kraske helped out with 19 as Buckfield dismissed Rangeley with a 59-41 victory in a boys’ basketball game Monday.

It was the Bucks’ first victory of the season. Buckfield built a 28-21 lead at halftime. Kraske also knocked down three 3-pointers.

For the Lakers (3-3), Wyatt Dellavalle scored 14 points and pulled down nine rebounds.

Lauren Henderson also contributed with 12 points and five assists.

PITTSFIELD — April McAlpine broke a tie late in regulation Monday to lift MCI to a 50-49 win over Leavitt in KVAC girls’ basketball.

The freshman led the Huskies (2-4) with 19. Ashley Alton added 12. Leavitt was led by Chantel Eells and Allie Bellaire with 13 each while Sophie Gilbert chipped in 12.

Eeells also finished with 12 points, eight assists and five steals while Bellaire had 10 rebounds.

With the game tied 47-47, McAlpine hit a 3 to give the Huskies the lead.

Leavitt got a basket by Eells to trim the deficit.

The Hornets (2-4) got the ball back on a MCI turnover, but Leavitt’s try at the game-winner didn’t fall.

LISBON — Bree Sautter led a trio of players in double figures Monday as Lisbon hustled to a 68-45 romp over Telstar in an MVC basketball tilt.

Sautter paced the Greyhounds (1-4) with 15 points, while Jasmin Le tallied 14 and Mia Durgin added 13.

The Rebels (0-5) were paced by Becca Howard with a solid 13-point performance. Lisbon built a 10-point lead in the first half and was never challenged.
