PORTLAND (AP) — Many Mainers enjoyed some record-breaking warmth on Christmas Day, and the warmer-than-normal temperatures will be sticking around for a few more days.
Meteorologist Margaret Curtis from the National Weather Service says the temperature in Bangor hit 54 on Wednesday, breaking the old record of 51 degrees set in 2003. She says the highs of 53 in Portland and 48 to the north in Caribou tied previous records for Christmas Day.
Curtis says the temperature will be in the 40s for much of Maine on Friday and Saturday. She says cooler temperatures will be on tap for the start of the week.
