CAPE ELIZABETH (AP) — Maine authorities say a 65-year-old woman discovered dead after a fire was reported at her Cape Elizabeth condo died of natural causes before the food she was cooking caught fire.

State police spokesman Steve McCausland says autopsy results reveal Lamy Alkurdy died of natural causes unrelated to Friday’s fire.

Officials say the fire began in the kitchen of Alkurdy’s condominium on Starboard Drive. Several fire departments responded to douse the blaze.

Alkurdy was pronounced dead at the scene after CPR efforts by firefighters failed to revive her.
