The United States was founded by immigrants seeking a better life. No country in the world offers more opportunity than the U.S.A.

Despite the obsession of certain public figures, not all non-citizens are here because welfare is so glamorous. Every single person I have met here in Lewiston who is from another country has greatly enriched my life, and I thank them all for it.

I encourage others to think about immigration this way: if the situation were reversed, how would you like to be treated if you were in a foreign country?

It does more harm than good to focus on problems that are perceived to be larger than they are. We must remember that we all have a right to be here, and we must do our best to help our neighbors, no matter what country they are from.
