FARMINGTON (AP) — Independent U.S. Sen. Angus King will speak in Farmington about international issues at an event hosted by the University of Maine at Farmington and the Maine Chapter of the Fulbright Association.

University representatives said King will speak about current international issues, lending his perspective as a member of the armed services and intelligence committees. The event is free and open to the public and is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Jan. 23 in Lincoln Auditorium on Main Street in Farmington.

King served two terms as Maine’s governor before his election to the Senate in 2012. He also served as the university’s commencement speaker in 2006.
