NEW VINEYARD — Two men were injured Tuesday morning when the Jeep they were riding in and another vehicle collided on Route 27, Maine State Trooper Randy Hall said.

Robert O’Connell, 65, of New Vineyard pulled out of Our Village Market and didn’t see a sport utility vehicle driven by Michael Atwood, 48,  of New Vineyard, traveling south until it was too late, Hall said.

O’Connell received a neck injury and was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, he said.

His passenger, Jonathan Dowling, 40, of Rockland, Mass., was treated at the scene by NorthStar EMS personnel for facial lacerations, Hall said. He was not taken to a hospital.

Atwood was not injured.

O’Connell’s Jeep and Atwood’s GMC SUV received front-end damage, Hall said.

Firefighters and Franklin County Deputy Colt Bernhardt assisted at the scene.
