FARMINGTON — Tickets are on sale for Heat Dance IV, the gala event to raise money for Franklin County heating assistance.
The Hollywood-themed Heat Dance is the most successful fundraising event in the county. Last year, it raised over $21,000 to assist families and individuals keep their homes warm. The dance, now in its fourth year, is widely supported by local business, institutions and individuals, and was attended by over 250 people in 2014.
The Homestead Bar and Bakery in downtown Farmington also announced it will sponsor a special pre-dance dinner in connection with the event. A special $20 “gold plated” ticket, on sale at the restaurant, will entitle holders to a glass of champagne and a limousine ride from the restaurant to the dance and back. Dinner is not included.
The restaurant will be decorated in Hollywood style and will feature movie star-attired waitresses and waiters and movie-themed drinks and entrees.
“We are looking forward to another banner event and hope to surpass the incredible totals we raised last year,” said Rev. Susan Crane, who administers the funds through ECU Heat. “We’re optimistic because the dance has become an institution in the Farmington community, and enjoys tremendous support from individuals and organizations in the area.”
Heat Dance takes place Friday night, February 6 at the University of Maine North Dining Hall, starting at 7 p.m. It will feature live music from the popular local dance band Shepherd’s Pie.
Students of the Broadway Academy of Dance will hold a special performance. On-site babysitting is available at $5 per child. There will be two cash bars.
Regular admission tickets are $10 purchased in advance at the Homestead, Devaney, Doak and Garrett booksellers and Calico Patch, all in downtown Farmington.
