LEWISTON — A back-to-back musical productions is the Franco Center’s offering for Valentine’s weekend.  On Friday, the center will present “Welcome to The Sixties: Songs that Shaped A Generation” is a fun, and sometimes romantic, collection of number-one hits from Billboard Magazine from every year in the 1960s. The widely-acclaimed show will appear at the Franco Center in Lewiston on Friday, Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m.

The cast of last summer’s popular musical revue at Poland Spring Inn will revive the show as part the Valentine’s weekend package. The production features local singers and actors Eileen Messina, (above) Renee Davis, Sharon Nightingale, Gerry Therrien and Michael James Litchfield. The band, under the baton of pianist Paul G. Caron, features guitarist Mike French, bassist Shane Davis. and drummer Bruce Condit.

On Saturday evening, “Love Letters: Songs of the Stage”  will feature an evening of favorite show tunes, as a talented cast celebrates the many facets of love through the love songs of Broadway.

From the classics of Rogers and Hammerstein to the new Broadway songs popular today, this concert is sure to bring a smile to the heart. “Love Letters: Songs of the Stage” features Kristen J. Thomas, Adam P. Blais, Arielle Costello, Melissa Betts and Jacob Sutherland. The artists have performed in dozens of shows on stages from L-A Community Little Theatre, to the Waterville Opera House, to Maine State Music Theatre, and more. 

Tickets for Friday’s “Sixties” show are $12 each, and $10 for students and seniors, 60 and over. Saturday’s “Love Letters” tickets are $15, and $12 for students and seniors over 60. A weekend package of tickets to both shows is $22, $20 for students and seniors. All proceeds to benefit the Franco Center.
