OXFORD — At a recent meeting of Anderson Staples Post 112 American Legion, a new slate of officers was elected and installed.

Wayne Hakala, 5th District commander, installed the new officers. The new officers for the post are Ed Lyons, commander; Randy Jack, vice commander; Deb Lyons, adjutant; and Ed Young, sergeant at arms.

Officers that remained the same were Jackie Bouchard, finance officer; Phil Perkins, chaplain; Bob Tripp, executive committee; and Rick Nugent, service officer.

Post 112 has initiated new activities as well as continuing with those already established. The post is now renting their hall to any individual or organization that needs a place to meet. A call can be made to the post home, 539-2649, for more information on rentals.

Once a month on the fourth Tuesday at noon, a Senior Luncheon has been started. This luncheon is open to the public with door prizes and music. Donations are accepted to help fund veteran projects done by the post.

Bingo is a major activity being held every Wednesday night. A new group of Legionnaires now operate the game and are providing incentives to those joining us to play. Doors open at 4 p.m. and bingo starts at 6 p.m. Anyone who enjoys bingo is encouraged to come.

The post is also hosting the Sons of the American Legion’s Youth Dances on Friday night. Many young folks enjoy this activity.
