1950 – 2015

LEWISTON — Linda Charlotte Abbott died peacefully in Lewiston on Jan. 18.

She was born in Waterville on Nov. 20, 1950. Linda attended Bates College in Lewiston, graduating in 1973 with a B.A. in psychology.

She worked as a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 33 years, heroically making some 620 stops five, and often, six days per week throughout the Maine countryside; the mail always got through.

Linda was predeceased by her father, Carroll W. Abbott; her mother, Kathryn C. Abbott; and her true love, Jimmy King.

She is survived by her brother, Charles J. Abbott, of Aspen, Colo.

Linda will be remembered as a very kindhearted person of valiant good cheer, whimsical good humor and with a deep love of animals. She will be greatly missed by her many, many friends.
