1952 – 2015

AUBURN — Gail E. Estes, 62, of Auburn, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at her home.

Born in Lewiston on Nov. 15, 1952, the daughter of Roger Mongeau and Claire Smith, she attended and graduated from Auburn schools.

Gail truly enjoyed crocheting, knitting and most recently was preparing gowns for Maine’s Angels, where she would sew gowns for babies that have passed.

She could often be found outside her home in Auburn feeding the birds, chipmunks and squirrels. She loved to photograph them as they ate at her bird feeders.

Gail is survived by a son, Tim Estes of New Gloucester; a daughter, Michele Sherman and her husband, Mark, of New Gloucester; two sisters, Phyllis Morrissey and her husband, Jack, of New Gloucester and Jackie Lafayette of Maine; two brothers, Gary Mongeau of Turner and Robert Gerardi and his wife, Nancy, of New Jersey; and five grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents.
