1941 – 2015

NORWAY — Jeanie E. Morse Figueroa, R.N., 73, of Oxford, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, Feb. 21, at the Norway Center for Health and Rehabilitation.

She was born in South Paris on April 22, 1941, the daughter of Arthur G. and Hilja (Heikkinen) Morse. She attended local schools, graduating from Norway High School in 1959, and CMG Hospital School of Nursing in 1964.

She moved to South Florida and married Tino Figueroa in June 1965. She worked in nursing and moved back to the area she loved. Her nursing career lasted 45 years. She had worked at ELAN, Maine Veterans Home and the John Murphy Home in Mechanic Falls. Jeanie was also an EMT volunteer with the Oxford Fire and Rescue for 11 years and was a member of its auxiliary.

She loved spending time with her family, and she enjoyed gardening and loved her flowers. She also enjoyed cooking and was always creating delicious meals. She also loved animals and was always very generous in her donations to many different organizations.

Jeanie is predeceased by her parents.

Surviving are her two sons, Joe Figueroa and his companion, Etta Trask, of Oxford and Dan Figueroa and his wife, Candy, of Oxford; her four granddaughters, Danielle Atter and her husband, Cecil, Brandi Skillin and her husband, Nat, Kayyla Figueroa and her companion, Ryan Chase, and Torrie Figueroa and her companion, Ricky Brown; her seven great-grandchildren, Ayden, Blair, Camron, Karleigh, Myleigh, Alora and Isaac; and a close friend, Laurie Morneault and her grandson, Tyler.
