1929 – 2015

SCARBOROUGH — Emile Gerard Aube Jr., 85, of Old Orchard Beach, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6. He is survived by his wife Marilyn, with whom he shared more than 61 years of marriage.

Born in Auburn on June 22, 1929, he graduated from Deering High School in Portland in 1948. He proudly served in the United States Navy in the Marshall Islands during the Korean War on the sub tender Bushnell. He was the youngest of three children born to Emile Sr. and Regina (Jalbert) and was predeceased by his two sisters, Reta and Suzanne.

Emile’s time in the service as a repairman set the path for his career. He was gifted in his ability to repair just about anything, and he put those skills to work for many years in sales for Eastern Tractor, WJ Connell, Williams Brothers and Downeast Energy. After he retired, his love of cars and home projects kept him busy.

Emile was a founding member and coach of the Old Orchard Beach Little League, a Boy Scout troop master and district commissioner. He was a longtime member of St. Margaret’s parish, serving as a Eucharistic minister, a member of the parish finance committee and adult advisor to St. Margaret’s CYO for many years. He served for more than 25 years as the volunteer Treasurer for the Waverly Condominium Association.

In addition to his wife Marilyn, Emile is survived by his son, Daniel M. Aube and his wife, Barbara, of Old Saybrook, Conn.; and his beloved granddaughter, Katie, also of Old Saybrook. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and their children, whom he loved dearly and was always ready to help.

Emile’s family extends a very special thank-you to Sarah Moore, who provided him with wonderful care in his last few months at home, and to the staff at the Gosnell House and Maine Veterans’ Home in Scarborough, who made his last weeks special.
