Officer Courtney Krause said witnesses reported a car driven by Dennis Coldwell, 62, of Rumford was coming off Depot Street/Route 156 near Rick’s Market and failed to stop at a stop sign. It attempted to go across Routes 2 and 4, she said.

One car heading toward Burgess Hill on Routes 2 and 4 swerved to avoid hitting Coldwell’s car and missed it. A car behind it, driven by Charles Cluney, 81, of Farmington struck the driver’s side of Coldwell’s car, Krause said.

Cluney and his wife, Diana, 76, of Farmington were injured and taken by NorthStar EMS ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington. Both were treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Coldwell and his passenger, Jessica Parker, 33, of Wilton were not injured, Krause said.

Everyone was wearing seat belts.

The Cluneys’ 2013 Chevrolet Sonic was destroyed and Coldwell’s 2001 Honda Accord received body damage, Krause said.

Everyone was wearing seat belts, she said.

Police Chief Heidi Wilcox and Wilton Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
