LISBON — Are you looking for an opportunity to be still and know God? Then come to St. Matthew’s hour-long Taizé Candlelight Service at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 18.

For this ecumenical service, the sanctuary will be darkened, lit only by candles artfully placed to increase meditation.

What is Taizé? Taizé Prayer consists of beautiful, easily learned melodies sung repeatedly to inspire stillness, meditation, and contemplation. The worship team Grace will lead the singing.

Taizé began over 70 years ago at a monastery in Taizé, France.

St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, founded in 1906, brings together contemporary worship with ancient ritual, Bible-based preaching, expressions of the Holy Spirit and loving service to others. The church is located on the hill off Route 196. For more information, visit www.StMatthewsLisbon.org.
