1949 – 2015
LEWISTON — Maria R. Kovacs, 65, of Livermore passed away Saturday, March 14, at Central Maine Medical Center with family by her side after a long battle with cancer.
Maria was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., in July 18,1949, to Eugene and Maria Rilling. She graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts.
Maria was a talented and passionate artist who graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2005, where she received her Masters of Fine Arts in tapestry and fiber arts. In her words, “My graduate experiences at VCU were one of the highlights of my life.”
Maria worked as an ed tech at Lewiston High School with special education students.
Maria is survived by her husband, Charles Kovacs; son, Nicholas Kovacs; and daughters, Anna and Eva Kovacs.
Maria was predeceased by her older brother, Eugene Rilling; and her parents.
She will be immensely missed.
