FRYEBURG — Fryeburg Academy took home big wins at the 47th annual Berklee High School Jazz Festival held recently in Boston. With 3,000 students from 13 states and Puerto Rico competing, the event is the largest of its kind.
Fryeburg’s vocal ensemble, directed by Mimi Rohlfing, won first place in its division. The school’s small ensemble, directed by Mike Sakash, won second in its division; and student Alex Ouellette was named an outstanding musician for his performance in the school’s small ensemble.
