RUMFORD — The Board of Selectmen will continue discussion on whether to approve a final sidewalk plan for the downtown at its meeting Thursday, March 19.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Rumford Falls Auditorium.
Selectmen will also decide whether to set a date for a special town meeting to approve a bond for the project
In 2014, selectmen voted 3-1 to forgo a bid process and hire Main-Land Development Consultants Inc. of Livermore Falls and its design team, Terrence J. DeWan and Associates of Yarmouth, to develop engineering plans to revitalize the downtown. The work included an estimate for better sidewalks.
During the board’s March 5 meeting, they requested that Main-Land Development Consultants engineer Rick Dunton come back with updated cost figures to consider the issue of downtown buildings’ roof drains, as well as the full water and sewer spectrum regarding this project.
Dunton previously estimated the cost of the project to be $1.05 million.
Other items on the agenda include:
* Rescheduling the April 2, 2015, Board of Selectmen meeting.
* Executive session at 6 p.m. in the Jury Room for an economic development matter.
