1938 – 2015

TOGUS — Robert L. Berube, 77, a resident of Pond Road, Lewiston, passed away Thursday, March 26, at the Veterans Regional Medical Center following a short illness.

He was born in Lewiston on Feb. 17, 1938, the son of Zebede “Pete” and Antoinette (Nadeau) Berube. He was a member of the 1957 Class of St. Dominic High School prior to joining the U.S. Army during the Cold War.

Following the war, he was employed for 27 years at Pioneer Plastics until his disability, retiring in 1993.

He was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish, the American Legion Post 22, Franco American War Veterans Post 31 and a past commander, was a member of the Lewiston Elks Club, and the Sabattus and New Auburn Senior Citizens clubs.

He is survived by his wife, Marguerite of Lewiston; one son, Peter R. Berube and wife, Diane, of St. Augustine, Fla.; two step-sons, Kenneth Gray and wife, Margaret, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Norman Gray and wife, Kay, of Auburn. Also surviving are six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Anita Asselin and Theresa Cole.
