TURNER — Harrison Knowlton of Turner, a senior at Leavitt Area High School, has been selected to receive the 2015 Principal’s Award, Principal Eben Shaw has announced. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.

“During his time here at Leavitt, Harrison has grown into a leader in our school and community. Harrison has been involved in many activities, including cross country running and Nordic skiing, where he has been very successful. In addition he is a member of the National Honor Society and Key Club, where he has been involved in community service activities. Even with all of his involvement in activities outside the classroom, Harrison has maintained the highest academic standards. There is no doubt that his work ethic and success both inside and outside of the classroom have made him an excellent role model for the students of our community,” said Shaw.

Harrison, Shaw and other award winners and their principals will attend an Honors Luncheon at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor on Saturday, April 11.

The Honors Luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler. This year an additional five $1000 scholarships will be presented through the efforts of the MPA Scholarship Golf Tournament.
