1929 – 2015

AUBURN — Martin F. Morgan Jr., 85, formerly of Lewiston, died Wednesday, April 1, at Clover Manor Health Care facility, following a wonderful life. He had been a resident of Lewiston since 1965.

Marty was born in Medford, Mass., on July 6, 1929, the youngest son of Martin Morgan and Elizabeth A. (Convery) Morgan. Marty was a graduate of Boston College (1953) and enjoyed a long career as an accountant and tax preparer.

In addition to his business training, he was proud of the values he learned through his Jesuit education, which he exhibited by giving back to the community. He volunteered his time and financial acumen to organizations including St. Joseph’s Parish, St. Joseph’s School, the Boston College Alumni Association and the Lewiston Housing Authority and the Lewiston Redevelopment Authority.

In addition to his work, Marty enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and the companionship of his dogs.

He is survived by four sons, Brian Morgan and his wife, Mariter, of Lafayette, Ind., Kevin Morgan and his wife, Patricia of Bedford, N.H., John Morgan and his wife, Kandy of Kansas City, Mo., and James Morgan and his wife, Franca of West Newton, Mass.; three daughters, Karen Eagan and her husband, Kevin, of Amherst, N.H., Mary Morgan of Lewiston, and Ann Maroon and her husband, Ed, of Lewiston; 19 grandchildren; one great-grandson, Cooper Lajoie; and several nieces and nephews.

Marty was predeceased by Barbara A. (Thomson) Morgan, his high school sweetheart and wife of 58 years; his brother, John; and sisters, Betty, Helen, Kay and Peg.
