AUBURN – Online registration for the fourth annual Lake Auburn Half, 5K Walk/Run and Kids Fun Run, set for Sunday, Sept. 13, is now open.

This year the plans are to have all the events of the half marathon take place at a central location. Packet pick-up will be on Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Central Maine Community College campus. All events will start and finish at CMCC.

The half marathon around Lake Auburn will go in the opposite direction of years past, with a short out and back on Holbrook Road. The 5K Run/Walk will be an out and back starting on the same course as the half and turning around 1.5 miles in. The Kids .5K and 1K will take place before the adult races on the Central Maine Community College Campus. There will also be all kinds of kids’ activities.

The event has been selected as the Road Runners Club of America New England Championship Half Marathon for 2015. The club is dedicated to supporting the growth of grassroots running clubs, training programs and running events while promoting the common interests of runners throughout the United States. For more information on RRCA, go to www.rrca.org.

The events are designed not only to encourage participation from runners throughout New England and abroad with a high quality half marathon and 5K certified race, but also to attract individuals to participate in activities that promote active lifestyles.

The nonprofit event supports the local community through personal, business and private contributions. The proceeds will continue to support the community as well as to provide opportunities to youth.
