PORTLAND — The 2015 Statewide Education Conference for caregivers, family members and people living with dementia is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 14 at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland.

Teepa Snow will return to Maine this year as keynote speaker. She is an occupational therapist currently working as a dementia care and dementia education specialist. She has clinical appointments with Duke University’s School of Nursing and UNC-Chapel Hill’s School of Medicine.

The conference also features Greg O’Brien . He is a long-time Cape Cod reporter who was diagnosed with younger onset Alzheimer’s in 2010. Acting on instinct and journalistic grit, O’Brien decided to face down the disease and his imminent decline by writing frankly about the journey in “On Pluto: Inside the Mind of Alzheimer’s.”

The full-day conference will include a variety of workshops for both family and professional caregivers as well as people living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

The cost is $95 for professionals and $45 for family members or persons with dementia.
