1925 – 2015

AUBURN — Irene B. Webster, 89, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, at the Hospice House in Auburn with her family by her side.

She was born in Lewiston on Nov. 27, 1925, the daughter of Edward and Katherine (Acheson) Benedix. She attended schools in both Lewiston and Dixfield. She met and married her husband John Webster on Oct. 2, and they raised their family in West Peru. Irene worked as a cake decorator making cakes for many of the people in the Rumford and Peru area. After the loss of her husband, she moved to Lisbon Falls to live with her daughter.

Irene loved spending time with her family, her children and her grandchildren. She would make yearly trips to Las Vegas with her husband to celebrate their wedding anniversary. Knitting was a favorite pastime often making mittens for the church groups to sell at craft shows. She was also recently getting into Facetime with her friends from away. She was an active member of two widow groups in the area and truly enjoyed their companionship.

She is survived by her two daughters, Beverly and her husband, David Garneau, of Lisbon Falls and Joyce and her husband, Donald Richard, of New Sharon; two sisters, Madeline Fournier and Geraldine Cyr; two brothers, James and Richard Benedix; grandchildren, Aaron and his wife, Kimberley Garneau, Don and his wife, Kerry Richard, and Melissa LeTarte; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
