1954 – 2015

RUMFORD —Sheryl O’Leary, 61, of Swain Road in Rumford, passed away on Thursday, April 9, at Rumford Hospital following a courageous battle with multiple sclerosis, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Valdosta, Ga., on Jan. 23, 1954, a daughter of Patricia Touchette.

Sheryl attended St. Theresa’s in Mexico and was a graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1972. She married John J. O’Leary Jr. on June 16, 1973; together they have celebrated 41 years of marriage.

She was employed as a bank teller with Bangor Savings and Oxford Federal Credit Union.

Sheryl loved crocheting, going to the movies, trips to the casino and playing bingo, but most of all spending time with her family.

She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and was a past secretary of the Auxillary.

Surviving are her husband, John J. O’Leary Jr., of Rumford; a son, Jamie D. O’Leary and wife, Sarah, of Mexico; a daughter, Brande R. Vining and husband, Travis, of Rumford; two sisters, Jacqueline Waugh of Dallas, Texas, and Julie Gaudet and husband, Wayne, of Meredith, N.H.; two brothers, Joseph Thibodeau and wife, Paula, of Auburn, and Bernard Thibodeau and wife, Rebecca, of Rumford; five grandchildren, Nicholas Billings, Nathan Billings, Alexis Vining, Noah O’Leary and Jesse Vining; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; a grandson, Lucas; and her twin sister, Cherry.
