BETHEL — Honorable Roberta C. Pevear was recognized as Professional of the Year by Capital Who’s Who for her distinguished accomplishments and contributions in the field of writing and genealogy.

Pevear, of Exeter, N.H. is a native of Bethel and a Gould Academy graduate.

She is co-author of the book “Write Quick: War and A Woman’s Life in Letters 1835-1867” and has prepared a film proposal for “Heartache: A Woman and the Civil War.”

The book is based on Pevear’s transcription of the 150-year-old letters between her great-grandmother, Eliza Bean, and great-grandfather during the Civil War. Eliza Bean was also a native of Bethel.

All of the letters, documents, photos and artifacts have been donated to the Bethel Historical Society, which now publishes “Write Quick.”
