RUMFORD — “Charlotte’s Web,” one of Director Keith A. Grassette’s favorite stories and cherished by thousands of children, as well as adults is coming to life on the Paper Moon Players, on stage at 49 Franklin in the Mystic Theater of Rumford, Friday, April 24 through Sunday, April 26. Charlotte’s Web is a heart warming story of friendship and the trials and tribulations that come in life and have to be confronted — sometimes joyful, sometimes sad. The play by Joseph Robinette is based on the book by E.B. White.

All the enchanting characters will be there: Wilbur the irresistible young pig who desperately wants to avoid the butcher is played by Amara Aiken. Virginia Owings is Fern, a young girl who understands what animals say to each other. Sean Gould plays Templeton, the gluttonous rat who can occasionally be talked into a good deed. The Zuckerman family is played by Eric Schmersal, Jan Peaslee and Jacob True. Scot Grassette plays Arable.  Rebecca Robichaud, Brayden Duguay and Virginia Owings, play a barnyard full of clever animals. And most all Charlotte, who proves to be “a true friend and a good writer,” is portrayed by Jillian Conant.

Determined to save Wilbur, Charlotte begins her campaign to save Wilbur’s life with the miracle in her web in which she writes, “Some Pig”. It’s the beginning of a victorious situation which ultimately ends in the now-safe Wilbur doing what is most important to Charlotte. The play is skillfully narrated by Lisa Picard.
