REGION — Guided tours of wind farms, paper and wood pellet manufacturing facilities will highlight this summer’s Forests of Maine Teachers’ Tours.

There are still openings for formal and informal educators to attend the July 14-17 Teachers’ Tour in Rangeley and the July 28-31 Tour at Leen’s Lodge on West Grand Lake in Washington County.

The $105 registration fee will go up by $10 for all registrations received after April 26. Ceu’s and college credits are available.

Offered by the Maine TREE Foundation for the 18th year, the four-day tours will focus on the harvest and production of wood and fiber, including renewable energy and traditional forest products.

Teachers in grades K-12, Girl and Boy Scout leaders, adult educators and Conservation Commission members are among those who will find a wealth of information about Maine’s forest resource on the tours and ways to share it with their students.
