POLAND — Whittier Middle School students participated March 28 at the University of Maine in the Maine History Day competition. The students were selected based on the projects they submitted at the school-level competition.
First- and second-place finishers qualified for the national competition in Washington, D.C. Third-place finishers may serve as alternates.
Winners included:
* Group performances: 2nd place: Twilight Smart-Benson and Haley Davis.
* Individual performances: 3rd place: Mia Turkington.
* Group exhibit: 2nd place: Josh Powers and Brady Downing.
* Individual documentary: 1st place: Colin Marquis-Boutin; 3rd place: Lily Powell
* Individual website: 1st place: Hwida Nawass
