NEW VINEYARD — A Massachusetts woman is accused of drunken driving on Route 27 at speeds of up to 111 mph late Saturday afternoon, according to Maine State Police trooper Keith Barton.
Barton was patrolling Route 27 and saw a tan minivan traveling at a high rate of speed, heading south on the road at approximately 5 p.m. in New Portland, he said in an email.
Barton attempted to stop the van. When he caught up to it he activated his radar again and clocked the vehicle going at 111 mph in a 55 mph zone, Barton said.
Barton was able to stop van on Route 27 in New Vineyard.
He arrested Deborah Jameson, 51, of Brockton, Mass., on charges of operating under the influence and criminal speed.
Jameson’s blood alcohol content was nearly twice the legal limit at 0.14, he said.
Barton was assisted by Cpl. Christopher Chase of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department.
Jameson was taken to Franklin County jail in Farmington. She was released on $300 cash bail on Sunday.
