Barbara Helen Dalot

1934-2015

Barbara Helen Dalot, 80, a resident of Dryden, passed away April 30th at Marshwood Nursing Home in Lewiston, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born July 24, 1934 in Machias, the daughter of Clarence Gray and Rose Frances (Dorr) Gray. During her younger years she grew up in the Down East area. She worked at Forster Manufacturing in Dryden for 34 years before retiring.

She enjoyed baking pies with her mother, flowers, gardening, being outside and drinking coffee on her sun porch. Barbara especially loved the time she spent with her family and grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Gerry Rackliff of Vienna; Brenda Williams and her husband David of Wilton; and Joan Jackson of Livermore; sons, Elvin Dalot and his wife Roberta of Bath; and Bruce Quirrion of Dryden; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; and her sister Mary Gray of Machias.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 8th at FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 15 Church St., Livermore Falls, Maine. Visitation will be held from 12-1 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Medora A. “Dodie” Mahar

1929-2015

Medora A. “Dodie” Mahar, 85, of Rumford, died Saturday, May 2, at the Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

She was born in Rumford on July 11, 1929, the daughter of Charles and Florence (Bartlett) Soule, and graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford Class of 1948. Dodie worked for many years as a secretary for the Carey Oil Company in Rumford. She was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius-St. John Church. She spent many summers at her beloved camp on Concord Pond in Woodstock, left a legacy of Dodie’s dolls and loved spending time with her family and many friends.

She was married in Rumford on May 8, 1948, to Nelson J. Mahar, who died in Rumford on June 25, 2009.

Survivors include sons, Michael Mahar and wife, Gail, of Kennebunk, and Stephen Mahar and wife, Linzee, of Eliot; daughter, Kathryn Mahar of Nashua, N.H.; grandchildren, Shawn Mahar and wife, Bethany, of Kingfield, and Sarah Yerxa and husband, Chris, of Alexandria, Va.; great-granddaughter, Addison Yerxa of Alexandria, Va.; and another great-grandchild due in June.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband; brother, Jesse Soule; and sister, Jeanette Soule.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 9, at noon, at Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius-St. John Church, 126 Maine Ave., Rumford. Interment will be at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta.
