STRONG — Franklin County deputies are investigating the theft of five guns from an unoccupied house on the dead-end Chandler Road.

The long guns are believed to have been stolen within the past four months, sheriff’s Lt. David St. Laurent said Tuesday. The burglary was reported April 28.

The house was entered and the person or persons forced their way into a gun safe, he said. Deputy Nicholas Zecher responded to a report of vandalism/criminal mischief at the house the same day the guns were reported stolen. The vandalism is believed to have happened recently.

Detectives Stephen and Kenneth Charles are investigating.

Deputies are asking people who may have heard or seen anything suspicious, such as a car in the area, to call the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office at 207-778-2680 or the Franklin County Communications Center at 207-778-6140.

Chandler Road is off Route 4.
