SANFORD (AP) — Maine authorities say a motorcyclist has died after his bike went off a road in York County.

The sheriff’s office says 22-year-old Dakota Thomas of Sanford was driving a motorcycle on Route 109 about 6:20 p.m. Sunday with two other motorcyclists when his bike went off the road. The motorcycle went across a lawn, struck a dip in the ground and Thomas was thrown off the bike.

The sheriff’s office says Thomas landed about 30 feet into some woods. He was wearing a helmet.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff’s office says investigators suspect speed was a factor in the crash.
