WILTON — The completion of a wildlife observation platform overlooking Couber’s Brook Pond in Wilton will be celebrated with an official opening at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 31, at the Lions Club building parking lot on Main Street.

Couber’s Brook Pond is a small pond on the edge of downtown Wilton, within walking distance of two schools. It sees an amazing amount of wildlife activity, especially bird life.

The goal was to provide the opportunity to observe and photograph wildlife to school groups and the general public.

The observation platform is on town-owned land behind Wilton’s Public Safety Building on Main Street.

Two short, rustic footpaths have been developed into the area, both leading to the platform.

One path begins at the back left corner of the Lions Club building parking lot with parking available in the Lions Club lot. This path is shorter and steeper.

The other path begins on Sunset Avenue, just off Main Street, opposite a small utility building, where minimal parking is available. This path is longer and relatively flat.

Signs will mark both path access points.

Light refreshments will be served.
