BRIDGTON — Camp Wildwood and Lakes Environmental Association are offering a buffer planting workshop at the Camp Wildwood Beach at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 30. The workshop is free and open to the public.

Experts from Perennial Point of View will lead the workshop. They will provide tips for successful planting in challenging, sandy conditions such as those found at the Camp Wildwood Beach and elsewhere around Woods Pond. Species that will be planted include Bayberry, Oxeye Daisy, Hyssop Scullcap, Black-Eyed Susan and Switch Grass.

This workshop is part of a two-year project to control erosion in the Woods Pond Watershed. In 2014, LEA received a grant of $60,000 from the federal Clean Water Act, which is matched by $42,810 in local donations of cash, labor, equipment and supplies.
