The State Police are trying to help a woman recover her missing kayak after she lost it on Interstate 295.
She was driving south near the Bowdoinham-Topsham border about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday when the roof rack on her car came loose. The rack and attached yellow 14-foot kayak fell off. It was a Heritage Featherlite kayak.
The roof rack and kayak were dragged off the interstate and behind a guardrail.
When the woman returned about 30 minutes later to recover the kayak and roof rack, both were missing.
State police are requesting that anyone who may have seen a yellow kayak being loaded onto a car in the area call the State Police in Augusta at 207-624-7076.
