I am going to clarify a few things that were discussed during the past few Lewiston City Council meetings.

The vacuum sweeper the Public Works director wants to replace is a 2006 Elgin Whirlwind; it is not 23 years old. The bulldozer is a 1989 model, not a 1968.

The vehicle replacement seems to be justified, when the numbers are fudged. I have heard on several occasions from a veteran employee that the city needs to put a bigger door on the furnace — they can’t burn money fast enough. It is like the garage wins the lottery every week.

I guess some of the 2012-13 4×4 pick-ups must be due for replacement.

Now, Lewiston residents will have to pay to throw out the trash. What is next? Pay as we flush?

The city needs to be run like a business. The taxpayers are fed up.
