Brewer goes extra innings to knock off Mt. Blue 10-7 in softball

What started as a quickly played and scoreless game into the bottom of the 4th turned into a wild affair with Brewer scoring the tying run in the 7th after 2 were out and with no runners on. The Witches then scored 3 in the 8th on their way to a 10-7 win at Mt. Blue High School.

Mt. Blue scored the 1st run of the game in the 4th on a leadoff single by Rachele Bator who then stole 2nd base and moved to third on an infield groundout. Bator scored on an infield single by Caitlin Kane. After 3 Brewer runs in the 5th the Cougars bounced back with four of their own including a 3-run home run by Addie Brinkman.

After singles in the 6th by Kenna Beal and Katie Wood, leadoff hitter Anna Chute lofted what appeared to be a routine high fly to right field. The ball got into the strong wind at Mt.Blue and just dropped softly over the fence for a 3-run homer giving the Witches a 6-5 lead.

Mt. Blue battled back with two more runs on a 2 RBI single by Bator go up 7 to 6. Beal then knocked in Green who doubled in the 7th to send the game to extra innings. The Cougars then gave up 3 unearned runs in the 8th after getting the 1st two batters in the inning out.

Beckah Williams got the win on the mound in relief for Brewer while Kane was a tough luck loser for Mt. Blue on the hill.
