FARMINGTON — The U.S Air Force Heritage Brass Band will present a free concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, in the auditorium at Mt. Blue High School.

The band played there in 2007 and was impressed with the community support, Penny Meservier, executive director of the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce, said.

“They contacted us and wanted to come back,” Shannon Smith, who is working with the band for the chamber, said.

Emblem Club 460 will perform a flag-folding ceremony during the concert, Meservier said.

The band has about a dozen members and is based at Langley Air Force Base in Langley, Va.

“Heritage Brass, a large brass ensemble with percussion, is the longest-tenured small ensemble within the United States Air Force Heritage of America Band,” according to its website. “From classical to jazz and popular music, from Bach to the Beatles, the group brings its brilliant brass sound to all music genres.”

The band is part of the U.S. Air Force Heritage of America Band, which has performed for U.S presidents and foreign heads of state. The band performs hundreds of concerts from Maine to South Carolina, according to its website.

The Heritage Brass Band will play in the high school auditorium, which seats 500.

Tickets are free and everyone must have one to get in, Meservier said. They are available on a first come, first served basis through visiting the chamber office in front of Wal-Mart in Farmington, calling 207-778-4215 or emailing info@franklincountymaine.org, or calling Smith at 207-778-4726.
