WILTON — The Spruce Mountain High School girls’ tennis team held their last home meet of the season Friday afternoon against MCI at Kineowatha Park. The visiting team won the meet, 2-1, but a thrilling doubles match added excitement and suspense that will long be remembered by the team.

At one time, Spruce Mountain’s Rylee Delaney and Delilah Jordan were down 5-1 in their doubles match. The pair dug deep and fought back to win. The final score was 8-5.

Coach Mark Stofan was still talking about the match long after it had ended. He said, “It was an inspiring comeback.”

In the first singles match, Evelyn Castonguay was defeated 8-3. Later, Gabby Richards was defeated 8-1.

A third singles match was uncontested as was the second doubles match.
