The Old Town Hannaford Supermarket recently presented the Dr. Lewis S. Libby School with $1,312 through the Hannaford Helps Schools program. This school raised the most the most money out of all the schools registered at the Old Town Hannaford and received an additional $1,000 on top of the $312 raised.
Overall, Hannaford Supermarkets has distributed checks for more than $400,000 to k-12 schools in New England and New York through the Hannaford Helps Schools program in 2015. Customers triggered the donations by purchasing eligible products.
Schools use the donations for whatever items students need locally, whether that is new computers, musical instruments, sports gear, field trips or playground equipment.
In its 15th year, Hannaford Helps Schools raised $237,235 for 1,420 schools. Schools in each community that raised the most money also received an additional $1,000, bringing the total raised during the 2014-2015 school year campaign to $441,376.
Under the program, customers received three “school dollars” – equivalent to cash – for every four participating products purchased. This year’s program involves more than 26 brand partners and 780 products, including products from Procter & Gamble, Tropicana, Unilever, General Mills, McCain, The Switch, Fresh Express, Wyman’s, Frito Lay and many others.
Since its inception, Hannaford Helps Schools has raised $9 million for schools in New England and New York.
