YARMOUTH (AP) — The widow of a man who was shot to death at a North Yarmouth bee farm in 2013 is filing a wrongful death lawsuit against her husband’s killer.

The Portland Press Herald (http://bit.ly/1LNMeGH ) reported that Kathleen Kelley of Georgetown is seeking $1 million from Merrill Kimball — a 72-year-old Yarmouth lobsterman. Kimball is being held at the Cumberland County Jail until his sentencing in the killing of Leon Kelley next Friday.

Kimball shot Kelley three times after Kelley’s family confronted Kimball’s family on Oct. 6, 2013, at Brown’s Bee Farm. Kathleen Kelley’s father owned the farm and Kimball’s wife managed it.

Kelley says in her lawsuit that Kimball was “careless and negligent in drawing his weapon and firing at Mr. Kelley.”
